My 2 Year Old Man

Even at two, my son is a hedonist; he's loud, beautiful and totally pleasure driven. He still wears diapers at almost 3, sucks a binky and truth be told the kid has no desire to quit. Like a man, this son of mine loves his penis and this evening announced that he has big plans to ride his penis to the moon. My son loves Toblerone, television, the pumpkin patch and swimming. He wears Keens and pirate gear daily. Like any man in training, my bouncing baby boy hates to clean up after himself and revels in mess making. He's provocative, rude and slightly mischievous. He hates being told “no” and doesn't listen. Let's be honest, he's kind of a jerk.

Behold, the man child! And still, despite his shortcomings, I adore this kid with all my heart and I'm more than convinced I'm totally responsible for his poor behavior. Boy was Freud right people!!! The Oedipus Complex is alive and well in my house and I do nothing short of encourage it. I giggle when he screams “My Momma,” when dad tries for a hug, and I think it's perfectly adorable when he says, “Mamma, I want to marry you.” I know, it's sick! I'm sick! My son has me wrapped around his finger and he knows it. He LUVS his mommy more than anything, and in turn, I surrender to his every whim. I know its' terrible. Everyone says so; I just can't help it. He's just too cute.

He's good when he wants to be....which in truth is most of the time. He's smart, funny, healthy and deeply aulteristic for such a little guy. He makes us laugh and he's a great snuggler. He loves his sister even though he hits her sometimes and will even go pee in the toilet on occasion. In other words, he's a keeper. My little man is all mine and that's the way it should be, except when he intentionally throws his cereal bowl on the floor, laughs hysterically and then looks up at me with eyes that say, “No one will ever love you, the way I do mamma.”
